SALIENT FEATURES

FRIDAY INTER-RELIGIOUS PRAYER

Fridays are meant for inter-religious prayer. Students wear pure white Khadi dress in the same manner that Dr. GR used to wear. During this prayer eminent personalities give speeches on various aspects of life and values. This makes a student think and mold his/her life in a proper way.

HOUSE SYSTEM AND THEIR COLOURS

The school has four houses.

Each house has a House Master assisted by other associated House Teachers, House Captains and Vice Captains selected by members of the House.

SHANTI SENA
Mahatma Gandhi Vidyapeedom has aimed at giving training to peace volunteers to take up the leadership in building up a society based on Non Violence. GR’s contribution was great in training the Shanti Sena in the area of peace and Non-violence.
NSS

National Service Scheme is the brain child of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr G Ramachandran. NSS has been introduced in our school with a view to develop healthy contacts between the students and teachers on the one hand and establishing a constructive a link between the campus and the community on the other hand. We proudly declare that our school is the first CBSE School which has been sanctioned on NSS Unit.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Various club activities like Eco Club, Arts Club, Theatre Club, Literary Club, Sports Club, Heritage Club, Home Science Club and the like are provided to the students on a weekly rotation basis.
CELEBRATIONS

The school observes days of National Importance, GR Smrithi Day and celebrates all festivals in a secular way.
October 7th, the Birth day of our beloved Founder Dr GR is celebrated as the School Anniversary.
The school also conducts Arts Fest to identify and kindle the various artistic sparks in our students. The two-day programme “ANANDAM” encompasses literary and on stage events.
Educational Trips including field trips also form part of the school curriculum
